20 years

What from your civic leadership, education, and professional experience has prepared you for this role?
The organizations that I have been involved with have allowed me to bring together community, business and government. I would bring board experience and leadership to the school board.

One of the main reasons we moved to Noblesville was because of Noblesville Schools. I have had two children who graduate from Noblesville. Schools.  I want to be on the school board because I feel as though I can help bring the community, schools, business and the city together.

My top three priorities as a school board member –
  1. Noblesville Schools needs to continue the proactive approach in virtual and in person learning during a pandemic. The focus needs to remain on safety, learning and staffing.
  2. Increase state funding for schools and teachers pay. I can advocate to state leaders for this important issue.
  3. I would support the continued work with Noblesville Schools and the Noblesville Diversity Collation (NDC) in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion. This collaboration will continue to improve Noblesville Schools and our community.

How will you represent all voices in our community?
I would represent all voices in community by listening.  Listening to what people say is the first step of being a voice. I would then be able to bring those ideas/ concerns to the board.

Noblesville Schools has invested significantly in social, emotional, and mental health services.  What is your view on the continued focus on the ‘whole child’?

A “whole child” includes academic, athletics, arts and mental health. I believe these areas are equally important and integrated.

There has been recent debate on how our nation’s history is presented and taught in our schools.  What is your view on teaching a more comprehensive and complete depiction of our nation’s history?

I think it is important that schools present a truthful, accurate account of our history. Students need to be able to learn from our mistakes and celebrate our accomplishments.

How would you rate the Noblesville Schools response to COVID-19? What, if anything, would you change?

I think that Noblesville Schools has done an excellent job in response to Covid-19. The fact that other school systems have used parts of Noblesville Schools Coivd-19 comprehensive plan is testament of the hard work of the administration.

School safety has been a heightened focus for Noblesville.  Do you support the current plans and programs to ensure the safety of our students and faculty?  What, if anything would you change?
I am fully supportive of the school safety measures that have been put in place.

The State Legislature plays a significant role in education.  What legislative support or relief would benefit Noblesville Schools? What do you see as the School Board’s role in influencing legislation?

As I stated above, State Legislature is one of my top three priorities.

As a Noblesville resident, what about the Noblesville Schools makes you the most proud?

I am most proud of Noblesville Schools because they are truly a community focused school system.
