Noblesville Resident for 22 Years
What from your civic leadership, education, and professional experience has prepared
you for this role? Why are you interested in serving on the School Board and what
strengths will you bring?
I’m a product of Noblesville Schools (1st-12th) and continued my education at Purdue University
and Harvard Business School’s Negotiation Mastery Program. From 2011-2020, I served as
Director of Speech & Debate at NHS. In 2016, I also took on the role of Assistant Thespian
Director at NHS. I’m a former board member for the Indiana High School Forensics Association
and former Secretary for the Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission. I’ve also previously served
as Franchise CEO for two large real estate offices, managing over 400 agents and employees
during my tenure. Today, I’m privileged to help families find their dream homes in Noblesville as
a broker with Keller Williams Realty. I’m running to offer a unique and important perspective, as
I’m the only candidate who has been a student in our district, worked alongside current faculty &
staff, and served as a coach and mentor for our students.
What are the top 3 priorities you look to address as a school board member?
● Continued Safety & Security
● Funding / Budgetary Needs
● External Communication
How will you represent all voices in our community?
I will continue to be a focused listener and proactively engage my community in conversation.
We can build stronger relationships with all people by simply taking an interest in their
well-being.
Noblesville Schools has invested significantly in social, emotional, and mental health
services. What is your view on the continued focus on the ‘whole child’?
Ensuring that our students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged is a mission
we should all espouse.
There has been recent debate on how our nation’s history is presented and taught in our
schools. What is your view on teaching a more comprehensive and complete depiction of
our nation’s history?
I believe that a real world, all-encompassing, factual education is important for student success.
However, it is not the role of the school board to create or establish curriculum, and I will take
the recommendations of our district cabinet & the curriculum review committee into full
consideration. Our district has four cabinet members focused on curriculum development; from
their recommendations, an approved and balanced curriculum is achieved through the efforts of
a diverse curriculum review committee composed of teachers, parents, community members,
and former administrators.
How would you rate the Noblesville Schools response to COVID-19? What, if anything,
would you change?
I thought the district's response to COVID-19 was satisfactory, if not exemplary. Given the
circumstances faced by our leadership, difficult decisions were made in a timely manner.
School safety has been a heightened focus for Noblesville. Do you support the current
plans and programs to ensure the safety of our students and faculty? What, if anything
would you change?
I have never felt safer in our district. One of the most important steps was hiring our first Safety
Director for Noblesville Schools, Heather Hendrich. Our schools have implemented exterior door
lockdown during the school day. A driver's license and/or background check is now required to
enter our buildings. All staff have been trained in ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter,
Evacuate) active shooter training. New safety dogs and increased police presence add to a
larger sense of security. Under COVID guidelines, our buildings are also cleaner than ever. I
believe that, in addition to these measures, we need to continue to focus more resources toward
the mental health and wellness of our students & teachers.
The State Legislature plays a significant role in education. What legislative support or
relief would benefit Noblesville Schools? What do you see as the School Board’s role in
influencing legislation?
We need to continue to support candidates who support public education. The school board can
do very little in influencing legislation, but we can control what we do at a local level.
As a Noblesville resident, what about the Noblesville Schools makes you the most
proud?
Our sense of community! Though we’ve grown to be a thriving city, there’s still a “hometown”
feel when you walk through our schools, attend a sporting event, or cheer on a parade. I’m
proud to be a Miller!
